Erin’s appetite for outdoor adventure kicked in during college. After participating in several burly hikes and sweaty mountain biking trips with a campus group, she was officially hooked on outdoor recreation. Since then, she’s tallied up numerous memorable experiences, including zip-lining in Costa Rica, snorkeling coral reefs around the island of Bonaire, backpacking in Canyonlands National Park and summiting Fourteeners in Colorado.
Over the last two decades, Erin served as a volunteer, counting bighorn sheep for Colorado’s Division of Wildlife, planting trees for a habitat restoration nonprofit, and guiding snowshoe outings for individuals with developmental disabilities. Because of these experiences and more, Erin has a keen understanding of the passion that drives RAF’s dedicated team of volunteers.
In 2017, her travel guide about Rocky Mountain National Park was published by Hachette Book Group, and the third edition debuted in 2023. Erin’s outdoor writing has appeared in numerous consumer and industry publications.
While she is not a pilot herself, Erin’s husband holds a pilot’s license and her father-in-law flies a Piper Warrior. Her young son enjoyed his first plane flight with ‘Grand Dad’ at age three.
